My name is Stacey, welcome to my online space. While this site is a place you can buy some of the things I make, it is also a place where I share some of my process.

How I Got Here

I became disabled in early 2019 after a work injury. I lost my 15 year career as an EMT and a good portion of my mobility. It was a very difficult adjustment for me. I was used to helping people, not needing the help. I became very depressed. Over the summer, I decided I wanted to pursue a lifelong dream, to be an artist. I began creating watercolor art with a bee focus, and digital art with a Pride focus. I attended several Art in the Park events and a local Pride event. All were very successful and I began to feel a little better about my situation.

That fall, I responded to a Call to Action sent out to the community by Robert L. Schreiwer before South Jersey Pagan Pride. The goal was to surround the Othala rune with inclusive energy to wrest it from the white supremacists that pollute the greater Heathen community. I created a symbol that I put on pins and magnets and had them prominently displayed at my vending table. It was super successful, we were interviewed by a local newspaper and I ran into Rob at another event a couple of weeks later.

I was invited to the next celebration that his kindred was holding and that is where I found Urglaawe. That step would be one that changed my life. Urglaawe gave my art a direction, a purpose. I found a place where my spirituality, my cultural heritage, and my art intersected. Urglaawe is pre-christian germanic Heathenry as seen through the lens of the Pennsylvania Dutch. I have deep roots in the Deitsch community even though I hadn’t known that until I dug into my ancestry. I did a deep dive into all the information available and I began creating as the Deities I learned about started to inspire the direction of my art.

First came the deity hex signs, then some of the Deities themselves. I began wood burning runes and that led to wood burning statues of the Urglaawe Deities. I created meditation beads and even meditation card holders. My focus started to narrow. I had found a place I could thrive as an artist with infinite inspiration from our lore while modernizing traditional Deitsch art forms. I also found a healing modality that I could practice even with my mobility challenges and that was also culturally important to preserve.

Today, I am a Ziewerin or Godsperson in Distelfink Sippschaft, and I am a braucherin and hex in the Blobarrick Freindschaft. We are very involved in several local Pagan Pride events as well as the Parade of Spirits in Philly every December. We are inclusive Heathens and work with and support Heathens Against Hate and Declaration 127.

This journey also allowed me to fulfill another lifelong dream, to be an author. In January of 2026, our book Heathen Traditions of the Pennsylvania Dutch: An Urglaawe Primer will be released! It was an honor to work with the people that brought the project to where it was when I came on board, and to help sculpt it into its final form.
